ABA TEAMS LOOKING FOR INTERNS

Tampa, FL  "Headlines in newspapers indicate that unemployment has hit college grads
at higher rate than in past recessions," stated ABA President/COO Dick Packer.  "That's
one of the reasons that the ABA places so much emphasis on its internship programs.
We offer college grads and college students an opportunity to get in on the ground floor
in sports management and marketing in areas like community relations, press and media
relations,
marketing of sponsorships and ticket sales, game day operations, promotions, radio/TV
and other areas of team operations.  It is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience
as well as earn money and other incentives."

"All ABA teams are encouraged to create at least ten internship positions," Packer
continued.  "Our past experience has shown that many of our interns become full time
employees.  We ask our teams to create full or part time opportunities also because many
of their interns have other jobs.  We are also sensitive to the tremendous number of
people who are underemployed or have been layed off and have openings throughout
the league for marketing people and other positions.  With over 60 teams scheduled to
play next season, there are some great opportunities."
